Boxmoor Cricket Club News story

Important Local Consultation

28 Dec 2022

Urgent request please - Dacorum Borough Council consultation - The Future of Hemel Hempstead - ends 9th Jan

I have asked your Club Chair to distribute this because, if you live in Hemel Hempstead or visit the town for sport etc your views could help shape the future of the town.

Along with representatives from other charities, I represent the Box Moor Trust, on a DBC Board known as Hemel Place. Over the next year or so the Board will be prioritising how best to take Hemel (not Dacorum) forward. This is a big project and is timed to coincide with plans for the big extension towards St Albans called the Hemel Garden Community in the hope of making the whole enlarged town a great place to live. Discussions are taking place on Industry, Marlowes improvement, Jobs, Sports, Culture, Housing and a number of other lifestyle issues. As 3 sports clubs use Trust land we want to be sure members all have a chance to air their views. The rest of the residents in the town, too, are Trust beneficiaries but we can’t easily contact them. So if you could spread the news about this it would be useful.

The focus of the Box Moor Trust will be on areas of wellbeing such as sport, recreation and culture. We will also work on protecting, maintaining and spreading good habitats for nature as good connection with nature can improve lives too.

In trying to establish what you and your family need and want for the future of Hemel Hempstead, the Council wants your opinions. You may not have seen this consultation yet but it is to find out what residents think of the town as a place to live, work, and visit, and what is most important TO YOU for the Council to achieve in time. This is the only time in many years that all our residents have had the opportunity to give their views in this way. Can you, your family and local friends please take 5 minutes to complete the survey on the attachment below and have your say on our future. There are a range of improvements that people I have met would like but without a good number of views being returned on those subjects, you may never see such changes. We have a difficult financial climate but if DBC can work in collaboration with investors, charities, other public services it is surprising what might be achievable.

The survey will close at midnight on Monday 9th January 2023 so there is not long.

The website below will give you more information about the Hemel Place work and you will find the survey form on the first page.
