Good evening All !!
The time seems right to send out an update to the membership of how things are going in preparation for the 2017 season, a season which will be slightly different from the previous seasons with the loss of the Saturday 4th XI but the exciting addition of the Sunday development team which will be a springboard for all of the club's aspiring juniors into the ranks of the senior teams.
Last night saw the 2016 senior awards night at the club, from my point of view it was especially pleasing to see the number of winners that are junior members of the club or those that have made their way through the junior ranks into senior cricket at Boxmoor CC. The long term future on the field is looking as strong as I have known in my time at the club and this is in no small part due to the number of promising young adults and junior cricketers we currently have within our ranks. A big thanks must go to our team of dedicated coaches who have devoted their time and passion for cricket in developing this talent from an early age.
Myself & Aidan in his role of Head of Cricket at Boxmoor have clear views as to the direction Boxmoor CC will be moving this season and beyond, we will be returning to our roots as a village cricket club which will offer a warm and hospitable welcome to all visiting teams and their guest's, during the game we will play hard but play fair and in a manner which respects cricket, the rules of the game, our opponents and the match officials. As members of the club we all have a role to play in looking after our pavilion and facilities but also the fantastic location in which we are privileged to play cricket, so please ensure that you offer you full support to Aidan and all the club captains. This season again brings a changed line-up of captains, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish Richard as club captain plus Jay, Dan, Phil & Stan all the best for the coming season ( No Pressure )
Senior nets which are held at Choice Willow are well underway, every Tuesday evening running from 8pm to 9pm @ £4 a head, and our juniors have been preparing for the coming season at Cavendish school's indoor facility with outdoor conditions !!
Off the field we continue to look to explore every opportunity to put Boxmoor CC in as strong a position as we can, the committee is working hard to deliver sustainable cricket for many years to come at Boxmoor. Ambitious plans for the pavilion have been submitted which will improve the cricket experience for all of our cricketer's at the Moor and I am pleased to announce that Peter Lockley has managed to obtain a grant of £1k towards this project, further news of this project will follow once plans have been confirmed and dates put in place.
The club is also in the process of tying up a deal with a potential new sponsor, who will be sponsoring the match balls for both Adult and Junior Team for the season. Considering we will be using close on 100 brand new balls this season this will be a welcome addition to the club's sponsors. On the theme of sponsorship, the club is always on the lookout for new sponsor's and if anyone knows of a business which is looking to get involved with a local community team then please pass their details on and leave the rest to us.
Shelley has been busy putting together a social events diary which will offer something to all of our members, news of this has been passed on via e-mails and social media but just to remind you all the Boxmoor CC website www.boxmoorcricketclub.co.uk has all the information on it that you will ever need, so please feel free to take a look and sign up as a member and keep an eye open for any announcements that will be following, as a bit of a sneak preview this year is the the 160th Anniversary of Boxmoor CC and in true Boxmoor style it wouldn't be right if we didn't have a decent party of some sort and this year the 2017 awards night will be a club event in which we will be celebrating the 2017 season as a whole #oneclub
Lastly the club has recently met with our landlords the Boxmoor Trust in which we spoke about many things in which the club was able to address the common issues which affect us all, as before once we have news to pass on then we will but one thing I can say for certain is that the Boxmoor Trust are fully supportive of the club and they will work with us to achieve our common goals. Our home ground at the Moor is very much the jewel in the crown of the Boxmoor Trust and it's important that both the Trust and ourselves play our part in ensuring that the Moor remains the envy of many clubs near and far.
