Match report Ironically the last game of a rain blighted season was played on a beautiful warm summer’s evening. Boxmoor batted first and got off to a slow start with the brave running of Ross and Rewan eventually being undone by the inevitable run out. Arman and Harvey tried to pick the rate up, but again an avoidable wicket undid all the hard work. At the half way point Boxmoor were struggling on 214, but a solid partnership of 26 from the Two Olly’s put Boxmoor back on track, led by 16 from Olly S who has managed to bat seven innings without being out. Adam was the tightest of the OA’s bowlers whilst Callum H took 2 for 30, his figures being dented at the end as Boxmoor’s skipper Tom blasted 25 not out in a 44 run partnership for the last wicket with George K.
OAs responded well with Joe and James – a very stylish bat - taking every chance to score runs. At 224 after 6 overs OAs were in with a shout in spite of the most disciplined bowling Boxmoor had produced all year. However the pressure of a large total and some excellent fielding took the game away from OA’s with 10 overs to go. Harvey was the star turn taking 4 for 9 in his 3 overs, only denied a hat-trick when Rewan dropped a difficult diving catch. The last pair needed 81 one to win in their 4 overs and its fair to say they gave it a go, typified by the crazy last over with an all run 4 and two run outs.
