Boxmoor Cricket Club Sunday 1st XI v Bovingdon on Sun 03 Aug 2008 at 2pm
Boxmoor Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report This game was touch and go due to the wet conditions caused by the seasonal down pours, but Bovingdon won the toss and elected to bat.

Iggy opened the bowling up the hill with Graham Green down the hill, both bowlers bowling a good variety to keep the batsmen on their toes. Graham bowled his 4 overs and then Wayne Lovelock came into the attack, quickly making an impact thanks to great reactions by Pete Hills in the slips. This then bought Treloar to the crease and he dispatched any loose bowling to the boundary... more often than not for 6. A difficult chance was put down by Iggy in gully with the new man on 0.

Iggy having completed his 8 overs for only 34 runs and unlucky not to have taken a wicket was replaced by Matt Chapman, who in tough circumstances bowled some good stuff. Wayne finished his spell for an impressive 29 for 2 from his 8 overs.

This left Boxmoor with Stuart Watkin to bowl the final 8 overs up the hill and with Boxmoor having to find 4 overs from an under strength bowling attack. Following an erratic spell a week before, Luke decided to bowl himself. The 4 overs from Luke produced a lot of action with 3 wickets falling and chances coming while anything loose continued to be dispatched. Graham came on to replace Luke and bowled well at the end of the innings and his figures don't reflect how well he bowled. Bovingdon finished on a total of 237-8 off 40 overs.

After tea Boxmoor emerged with Luke Hinton and Adam Cullinane opening the batting, the latter keen to add to his unbeaten ton from the week before. Adam decided in the wet conditions the best form of defence was attack and anything there to drive was put back past the bowler. Luke at the other end was quietly keeping up the pace with some pull and cut shots. Adam lost his wicket for 25 after the ball managed to squeeze through bat and pad and trickle on to the stumps, with the score on 47.

This then bought Iggy to the crease and in the wet conditions, with the drizzle settling in Iggy followed Adam's lead to attack anything loose. Luke and Iggy put on a partnership of 53 before Luke was out for 38 after a sharp catch by the keeper.

Next in was Matt Chapman, and he enjoyed a short partnership with Iggy before Iggy's innings ended with one attempted shot too many just after reaching his half century. Owen Adams then came to crease confidence after his role in last weeks win.

Matt and Owen batted superbly together and put on a partnership of 96 in just 14 overs, this included a maiden half century from Matt. Both Owen and Matt played some lovely shots until unfortunately Matt got bowled for 57.

This then bought Pete Hills to the crease with the task of getting the final 14 runs from the last 5 overs. Pete struggled to find his footing on the wet pitch and was soon back in the pavilion without scoring. Aaron Hinton then came to the crease and helped Owen see it home with 15 balls to spare.
