Boxmoor Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Watford Town II on Sat 12 Jul 2008 at 1.30
Match was Drawn

Match report With both teams starting the day in the bottom four, the division six clash between Boxmoor and Watford Town was a game that neither side could afford to lose. Electing to field first Watford Town looked to exact some control on a damp Boxmoor pitch and succeeded in shackling opening pair Pimm and Hinton and restricting the scoring rate, after back to back hundreds Pimm was skittled out for 17 with Hinton and Crowther also falling in the teens. The innings was given some impetus by Gorringe (46) whose fluent knock was peppered by great strokes on both sides of the wicket. Hodgins (33 not out) and Perry pushed Boxmoor up to 200 to secure maximum batting points.

Town’s reply started slowly but picked up momentum after the loss of the openers and with 10 overs to go they looked on course for victory but a marathon spell from Dan Greaves (4-84) kept the run rate in check. With 7 required from the last over to win Town only managed 2 leaving both sides to reflect on missed chances to secure the full 30 points.
