Boxmoor Cricket Club Won by 3 wickets
Match report
On a wet pitch, Boxmoor won the toss and elected to field in the battle of the relegation. The game started in light rain however, the heavy rain forced the players off just 3.2 overs in the first innings. With huge puddles on the pitch meant that match was in danger of being called off. To avoid this, BCC immediately employed the super soppers (11 players)with towels in their hands sopping up the water of the pitch. This ensured that the game started with the loss of 10 overs on each side.
The opposition CCC, post the rain break started with intent to put up a fightin total. However, the introduction of P. Lockley immediately borught about a wicket and applied some breaks to the opposition. However, some tight bowling from J. Scott (2/45) and A. Mahajan meant the opposition were restricted to 141 for 5 in their 43 overs.
In reply BCC, lost their first wicket early. With M. Iqbal and C. wright then shared a partnership of 46 runs in 9 overs to stablise the innings and get the chase back on. after the fall of hte skipper, C. Wright was then joined by P. Crawshaw, who added on 55 runs in 17 overs. With 37 required of the last 7 overs, BCC suffered a mini-collapse with 5 wickets falling for 17 runs in 5 overs. This left BCC requiring 20 of the last 17 balls with 3 wickets and B. Mohammed took the mantle on and hit a six over xtra cover to ensure that for BCC were still in front, before ensuring he hit the wininng 4 off the first ball of the last over.
