Match report Boxmoor 1st XI secured a nailbiting win against mid table Radlett 4th XI on Saturday on a sweltering day at Blackbirds Moor. Put into bat, Boxmoor lost opener Hinton in the first over and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals with Lederman taking 6 for 52 in two impressive spells. Despite losing early wickets Boxmoor scored at an impressive rate with Pimm (29) and Marke (27) taking advantage of any scoring opportunities. With Boxmoor wobbling at 5 down with under 100 on the board Cope (33) joined Dave Young in a crucial stand adding quick runs in the middle overs with Young impressing the big crowd with some crisp leg side shots. When that partnership was broken, Boxmoor’s lower order collapsed with Young last out for 55 in the 47th over, giving Radlett 53 overs to chase down a below par score of 186.

Boxmoor rotated their bowlers in sweltering conditions and openers Perry (2-35) and Marke (3-49) made early inroads into the Radlett order. At 57-7 the game looked won for Boxmoor but a century stand for the 8th wicket saw Radlett to the brink of victory. With less than 30 needed Marke returned to dismiss centurion Patternot and the game was back in the balance. With six needed to win Radlett were within touching distance of an unlikely win when Hodgins (4-43) took the last wicket with a yorker to secure a crucial 30 points for the home team.
