Boxmoor Cricket Club Saturday 3rd XI v Baldock III on Sat 11 Jun 2011 at 13:00
Boxmoor Cricket Club Lost by 3 Wickets
Match report
A Disappointing result for the Boxmoor Saturday 3rd XI. After winning the toss captain John Scott decided to bat. Stan Williamson started quickly with 24 in 8 overs. John Scott held the other end well but failed to score and both were out within 4 balls. Mark Hollis came in and rebuilt the Boxmoor innings with support from Andy Potton, before he was run out, and then Robert Smith. Then there were 4 wickets for just 15 runs. The first of those were in 2 balls with Robert Smith getting caught. Naz Hussain came in and got a plumb LBW yorker. Aaron Hinton came in and survived the hat-trick ball, looked set but then toe edged the ball to square leg. Then Mark Hollis who had looked very good, danced down the track only to miss the ball and see the stumps demolished by the keeper. Jim Down and Stan Harper put on a 30+ partnership to see the Moor over 150. Then with Jim out for the first time this season, now averaging 142, Stan Harper and Derek Pratt used a few more overs up, before Stan was bowled. The Moor all out for 156.
Baldock starting quickly and despite an early break through from Jim, the next remaining batsman looked set. The bowling was generally good, especially from the spin twins Del and Scotty. There was a difficult chance put down by Aaron behind the stumps and in the field by Stan Williamson. However the biggest problem for Boxmoor was the lack of runs on the board.
