Boxmoor Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Datchworth II on Sat 02 Jul 2011 at 13:00
Boxmoor Cricket Club Won By 19 Runs

Match report In what turned out to be another tense day for the 2's the collective spirit and effort, along with a great spell of bowling by Vice Skipper Matt Larkins, saw them over the line by 19 runs.
An opening standing of 127 between Nick Harper and Keith Hammond justified the captain's decision to bat on what was a good batting pitch and on a very hot day. Keith Hammond past the 50 mark but not before he'd recieved some pain after he managed to hit a ball into his own lip, thankfully the ball didn't need changing! Nick Harper continued his good form by scoring 60 before the faintest of touches knocked the bail of to end his innings. The scoreboard was kept ticking over with help from Richard Ballard (37), Dan Booth (17), Max Thompson (7) and Ryan Smart (22 not out). 247 was a good score and the bowling line up had to do its job to seal a fouth win in a row for the 2's and an early wicket from the skipper with a good low catch at gully from Hammond had spirits running high, these spirits were kept high with the 2 wickets of Stan Harper, the first an excellent high catch taken over the shoulder by Max Thompson followed by one of the catches of the season by Nick Harper and Datchworth 2's were 4 down with the first of Matt Larkins wickets. Akmal Fazal joined the wickets with 2, taking Datchworth 6 down, however instead of an early night, the Datchworth fight back had begun and the score was taken of the 200 mark and nerves were starting to show. the bowling was changed and changed and it was the reintroduction of the Captain and Vice Captain that brought the break thru that was so needed, Rob Feander getting W.Nash LBW for 109, Datchworth 2's were at this point 224-7 and need 23 and now it became the Matt Larkins show. He found the outside edge which was caught by wicketkeeper Ryan Smart to end the resistance of G Wallace (224-8), and then Keith Hammond took another catch in the Gully to take Datchworth 2's to 228-9, Matt's fine bowling was ended on the 5th ball of the over with an LBW decision to finish with figures of 9.5 overs 1 maiden 4 wickets for 34 runs.
What had started as a beautiful day for cricket ended as a tense and thrilling evening of cricket, moving the 2's up the league with everyone in the side contributing in helping in this match. Roll on next week for another exciting episode of Boxmoor Saturday 2's cricket.
