Boxmoor Cricket Club Under 9s v Redbourn on Mon 28 Jun 2010 at 6.00 pm
Boxmoor Cricket Club Won By 60 Runs
Match report
A must win game if we wanted to finish 3rd in our league against our closest rival's saw the team put in the performance of the season as we scored our highest total of the season without losing a wicket. The outfield was lightening quick which helped however it was the same for both teams and we restricted Redbourn to just 50 runs.
Batting first, each pair scored heavily by playing good shots and playing positive cricket, this enabled us to score our season best of 310 without losing a wicket. However this doesn't do justice to the Redbourn bowlers who stuck to their task well and were unlucky on numerous occasions not to pick wickets.
Once again a slow start in the field gave Redbourn some early momentum, but after the 8th over, a quick team talk between overs did the trick, as our fielders regained their focus and the bowlers found their line and length, this restricted Redbourn to 13 runs from 8 overs.
Without doubt our best performance with the bat, backed up by some excellent bowling and fielding resulted in a 60 run victory, an important win as it gives us every opportunity to finish in 3rd place in our league. The one slight worry is that once again when in the field it takes us too long to get warmed up, this has cost us dearly in 2 of our last 3 games. That said once we are able to switch on we can quickly take wickets and put our opponents under pressure.
