Boxmoor Cricket Club Lost By 5 Runs

Match report Our second match in 3 days saw us go down to a narrow defeat against Abbots Langley by just 5 runs. With the season drawing to a close it gave an opportunity to play some of the Under 9 Development players [ George & William ]. Batting first we scored 260 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, a reasonable score but as it turned out 6 runs short of a winning score.

With taking wickets the key our bowlers did everything they could but luck deserted us in this game. The Abbots Langley batsmen got off to a positive start and with 6 overs left they were 7 runs over their target. However in usual Boxmoor fashion a huge team effort took the game down to the wire with a wicket required in the last over to win the game, unfortunately it wasn't to be and we went down by 5 runs.

Mixed feeling after this game, positive contributions from the development players was encouraging, dissapointed that it took 11 overs of our bowling for us to get started and play with the spirit that we have shown throughout the season, however once we did start to play we were in a different class to our opposition as they scored -2 in the final 6 overs.
