Berkhamsted v Boxmoor Cricket Club Under 9s on Thu 10 Jun 2010 at 6.00 pm
Boxmoor Cricket Club Lost By 9 Runs
Match report
An excellent team performance against the unbeaten league leaders wasn't enough as we went down by 9 runs, however the result doesn't tell the whole story of the game.
Batting first we were able to post a very respectable 242 - 2 from our 16 overs, a measured team innings with each batsman getting the rewards of the hard word put in at training. The boys looked comfortable at the crease and never looked in real danger of losing wickets, that said the Berkhamsted bowling was accurate and we were never really able to score runs as freely as we would have liked.
With the weather getting worse all the time it was upto the bowlers to win us the game. Our bowling was excellent and backed up by some energetic fielding we took 6 wickets and gave Berko a real scare, however as well as we bowled we were always chasing the game and we just couldn't quite restrict the flow of runs although the result could have gone either way up to the last over.
Without question the best performance of the season so far, a huge improvement on the first time we played Berkhamsted earlier in the season and it's fair to say that we have made further progress during the season than our opponents. The manner in which the boys conducted themselves during the game was excellent, our team spirit and determination was again second to none and I was really pleased with our batting display and the huge improvement all of the team have made.
