Boxmoor Cricket Club Under 9s v Tring Park 2 on Mon 07 Jun 2010 at 6.00 pm
Boxmoor Cricket Club Won By 10 Runs
Match report
The first of our return fixtures saw Tring Park 2 as the visitors to the moor, Tring Park 2's have improved considerably since our first fixture to the extent that our victory was in doubt until the last over of the match. Our ten run victory was well earned with another improved batting display in which we only lost one wicket. Many of our batsman were maybe too cautious which resulted in us not scoring as many runs as we should have.
With constant light rain during the Tring Park Innings, our bowlers and fielders had by far the worst of the conditions, which resulted in us bowling more wides than in any other game, however in the field we again showed the commitment that I have come to expect and with 2 catches and 2 run-outs our score of 272 proved just too much for the Tring Park batsmen.
This was our 4th consecutive victory and our 5th of the season, with sterner tests to come the squad will need to continue to improve in the manner that they have done since the start of the season. However the improvement shown has been reflected so far in the excellent results we have had so far this season and gives me real encouragement that we will be able to finish off the 2nd half of the season in style.
Out next fixture is on this coming Thursday evening against the table topping and unbeaten Berkhamsted, a fixture that will give an indication of the progress we have made.
