Tring Park v Boxmoor Cricket Club Under 11s on Wed 07 Jul 2010 at 6.00 pm
Boxmoor Cricket Club Won by 68 runs
Match report
We went into the game against Tring knowing that a win for either team would mean being runners up in the league this season. I feel confident that any team I put out from the squad is capable of beating any team we face and tonight was no different.
We lost the toss and were put into bat. I decided to try out two of our under 10 players, Jacob and Aidan to open as this would be a good experience ahead of another Under 11 season next year. Jacob, unfortunately was out early on to a well taken catch but Aidan formed a very good partnership of 72 with Jay with some sensible shots and good running between them. Jay retired again after another excellent 30. After Aidan was out, Oran and Cameron kept the momentum going and with David chipping in at the end, we reached a very good 114.
The message at the break was the same as ever. Bowl full and straight and we win. My challenge to the team was to bowl no wides during the innings and I believe they are capable of this as every player can bowl very tight. I have to say our bowling was excellent. We only bowled 2 wides compared to Tring’s 11 and their batsmen could not get away because we have no weak links in our team. Eight wickets were clean bowled which tells the story of how good our bowling was. I can’t name specific individuals as everyone did a good job. The ground fielding was excellent although we did drop 3 catches which we will have to work on.
Tring were therefore bowled out for 48 in what was a really good team performance.
