Boxmoor Cricket Club Lost By 5 Wickets

Match report Having lost the toss we were asked to bat in very difficult circumstances, the pitch was green and with the overnight rain the pitch was bowler friendly to say the least. The loss of an early wicket could have spelt trouble but a stand between Sam Stride [ 29 ] & Chris Ward [ 20 ] ensured that no more wickets were lost and laid the foundations for some big hitting lower down the order. Matt Anderton [ 42 ] and Manoj Pradeep Bastiyahkoralage [ 31 ] helped to push the total to 168-9 after 53 overs.

In response Watton-At-Stone were able to get off to a positive start and despite the best efforts of the Boxmoor bowlers we were unable to apply any consistent pressure although wickets did fall at regular intervals.

On the whole a performance to build upon, a gritty batting display which should have delivered an extra 20 runs. In the field however we never really were able to rise to the challenge and will need improving upon in the games to come.

Highlight of the day goes to Manoy Pradeep Bastiyahkoralage for his consecutive sixes, the second of which was huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge !!!
All I can say is that anyone sitting in the Steam Coach next Saturday afternoon better put on their Tin Hat once MPB comes into bat and the air raid siren goes off.
