Boxmoor Cricket Club News story

Fundraising for Myeloma UK

23 May 2018

All,
Peter King is one of our long serving Vice Presidents after being a playing member for many years, probably more than he'd like to remember !!!

He has always been a strong supporter of Boxmoor Cricket Club, but recently he lost both his brother and wife to Myeloma, a bone marrow cancer that currently has no cure. As a result, it is the 6th biggest cancer killer.

However, Peter has always been someone who makes things happen and he has been the driving force in raising funds for a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show to raise awareness of this dreadful disease. This has just been awarded an RHS Silver Gilt Medal. The long term objective is to move the garden back to the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted. This is where Peter's wife, Gill died when the treatments no longer worked. The Hospice is a wonderful place and they would love the garden as it brings hope and inspiration.

If you were watching BBC London News this evening, you will have seen both Peter, and his daughter giving moving testimony to the cause.

Thank you,
Bob Booth
